very good mic

this mic is very good. its perfect for floor tom because the sound of it is realy made for it... i try the D2 on floor tom and its too clear..and the D4 is perfect

Audix D4 is an Engineer's Dream

I own and run a recording studio and play drums and percussion out live frequently. My Audix mic collection, including several D4s, are used routinely and they deliver fantastic sound quality that requires little to no EQ to pristinely capture drums and percussion in any situation. Very ruggedly built, compact form factor, and very easily mountable.

Knows Low

Audix pushes this Mic as a floor tom Mic and it works well for that purpose. However I discovered that it also works great as a kick drum mic. In fact, in my humble opinion it handles kick drum boominess better than the D6 which is world famous as a kick mic.

This Mic just feels like its at home with low frequencies

Amazing!

I've used a fet 47, md421 and a few others on my Ampeg cab to mix with the DI tone when recording bass and the D4 is my absolute favorite and now the only mic I use for this. A must try mic for those of you who have not heard it. It's also exceptional on kick drum and floor tom!

Does what is says it does

Grabbed one for my floor tom and it slams, and thumps. Great sounding drum mic. Super durable.
