"It's Not Just an Update. It's an Upgrade." — Benny Greb

Percussion icon and master clinician Benny Greb's signature Sonor snare rocked the drumming world upon its initial 2010 release. The latest collaboration between Greb and Sonor is the Benny Greb Signature Snare 2.0, which boasts improved performance and a beautified center-stripe exotic wood veneer. Greb's custom-sized 9-ply beech shell is handsomely outfitted in a semi-gloss Scandinavian birch finish ply with center bubinga inlay, crowned with carefully cut bearing edges to supply an optimized head-shell response. The 1950s Teardrop Lugs and "stereo" MonoRail adjustable dampeners — one with traditional sheep's wool, the other with cymbal felt — unlock a distinctly past–meets-present look and tone from the Benny Greb 2.0. You also get Sonor's smooth, silent Dual Glide snare system with quick-release snare detachment for snappy action and speedy head swaps. Factor in 2.3mm triple-flanged Power Hoops for balanced projection and 18-strand Sonor Sound Wires for a dry, focused response, and with the Benny Greb Signature Snare 2.0 from Sweetwater, you've got all the makings of a truly timeless snare.

9-ply beech shell

Benny Greb's signature Sonor snare is built from nine plies of premium beech wood. Beech is dense and hard, which means that this snare produces rich, deep tones similar to those created by maple. A semi-gloss outer ply of Scandinavian birch with a center inlay of figured bubinga gives the Benny Greb 2.0 a memorable look to match its unforgettable tone and response.

2.3mm Power Hoops

Triple-flanged Power Hoops on carefully cut bearing edges deliver a fat, full attack and wide dynamic range in the Sonor Benny Greb signature snare drum.

Twin MonoRail dampeners

The Benny Greb 2.0 gives you dual adjustable dampeners to soften attack and dry out overtones from inside the shell. Each mechanism features a different material — one a traditional sheep's wool material, the other a more modern cymbal felt — to give you greater tonal options onstage and in the studio.

Dual Glide snare system

Sonor's Dual Glide throw off releases and engages snare wires quickly and without unwanted noise. This gives you greater freedom to experiment with tenored and traditional snare tones mid-song. Not only does the Dual Glide give you exacting tension control, but both the strainer and butt plate come equipped with quick-release snare detachments, so you can change heads without removing or adjusting settings on your snare wires.

Seriously Amazing!

Been playing for 40 years and I have never had a snare with this type of tone, punch and feel! It has very sensitive response and such a clean sound. Super consistent tuning and I am a huge fan of the monorail system, for me the "Sheep" is in full effect, excellent and solid construction as well as a beautiful look. I've never spent this much on a snare before and I am fully convinced it was completely worth it.

5 Star Craftsmanship

Very well made snare , Heavy great Hardware ,Beautiful Beech wood Satin finish and believe it or not what caught my attention and closed the deal for me , where the dampeners ... like the old days .. What an awesome Snare Drum

Awesome snare!

I have nothing bad to say about this snare. Sounds great, looks great, and versatile. Love the internal mufflers. No need for gels, zero rings, etc. I have a handful of great snares but this one could be the only one I need. Great for any style. Highly recommend.

Versatility is Key

This is the single most versatile instrument I've ever played. It's snare #11 in my collection and I may not need another snare ever again. Great reggae or trap tones tuned high, FAT rock tones tuned medium tension, and jaw dropping E-Snare tones tuned down. I was at the 2020 winter NAAMM and watched this drum get premiered by Benny himself. Knew right then I had to get it, and only took me 2 years to get around to it.

I play in dozens of different groups of all genres, including party bands that play multiple far-reaching genres in each performance. In between songs and even during 1 measure of rest in some cases, I'm able to adjust internal muffling and tuning to get anything from trap snare tones, down to Bonham or Ringo or Peart or Buddy Rich tones, all the way to phat chest-punching heavy electronic snare tones. This snare is HEAVY and LOUD and PUNCHY and CRISP and RESPONSIVE and VERSATILE so just buy it and save yourself the money and space of having a whole snare bookshelf.

5/5 snare, no question.

PS brush work is so much easier when you don't have to worry about avoiding moon gels, wallets, or other external dampening mechanisms. That'll push it into a 5.1/5 for me.

Love it - crips and controllable

Have only had this snare for 2 days, but it's everything I hoped for. The two MonoRail mechanisms with sheepskin and felt dampeners allow for perfect customization of your sound - no need for O rings, moongels, etc. You can make it dry and crisp. The shell itself is gorgeous, and the drum screams quality. I've never had a snare with a head diameter smaller than 14inches, but I don't even notice that this 13. Highly recommend this snare to anyone. Hit up Jozy Franco for some great assistance.
