Expressive 13" 3-zone Cymbal Pad

This Yamaha PCY135 cymbal pad lets you get three distinct tones from your electronic drum controller module. With a separate sensor located in the bell, edge, and outer rim of the pad, the PCY135 makes it easy to switch fluidly between various playing techniques. What's more, this 13" electronic cymbal pad swings as you'd expect a bronze cymbal to do, using its natural vibration to trigger its sound. That means you'll get realistic expression and organic results every time. Sweetwater drummers don't hesitate to recommend the 13" Electronic Cymbal Pad from Yamaha.

Yamaha PCY135 Cymbal Trigger Pad Features at a Glance:
  • Get 3 distinct tones from your electronic drum controller
  • Separate sensors (bell, edge, outer rim) support natural playing techniques
  • 13" diameter offers plenty of striking surface and a more organic stick response
  • Cymbal pad swings like a traditional bronze acoustic cymbal
  • Compatible with Yamaha DTX series kits as well as other electronic drum controllers

A worthwhile upgrade.

Several months ago I was given a mostly-DIY electronic drum kit from our church. Although the person who built it actually did a nice job with combining DIY drums & triggers (decent mesh heads, even) with OEM pads (mostly Roland, including the old TD-6), the ride cymbal was a Pintech single zone. These are as basic as it gets and you can only get the bell sound by configuring the TD-6 so that velocity determines whether you get the bell or the bow sound. And, frankly, response isn't anything close to realistic. So, I opted to upgrade to the Yamaha PCY135. The difference in my experience is night and day. It FEELS more like a real cymbal and the response is far and away better. Sadly, the Roland TD-6 does NOT support three-zone cymbals like this, so I can only configure it to support bow and bell (the way the TD-6 sees the cymbal, the edge also triggers the bell sound). If I had any criticism, it would be that the actual size (surface area) of the bell on this cymbal is a little bit small compared to most real cymbals--so it requires a bit more accuracy to nail it. That said, I'm totally pleased with the purchase.

Excellent Electronic Cymbal - 13" C/R

Great Quality, Look, feel and signal processing. Better than electronic cymbals at twice the price. Ordered another when available.

Perfect Size Crash/Ride Pad

If you Have a Yamaha DTX kit it may come with a 10 inch crash pad that mounts on the side. Step up to this 13 inch pad and you will have a more reasonably sized pad that mounts in the center for real rocking action. This is a great pad, for the size, and the price. It also makes for a good ride.
