20 inch Heartbeat custom cymbal

I just purchased a Heartbeat cymbal from Levi, And I must say that it is everything as described. It's a great piece of gear and I'm very happy. Levi is very responsive and is quick to respond to texts and emails. All of my questions and inquiries were thoroughly answered. I will continue to purchase from this seller. Five stars! Goodbye Reverb, and hello Sweetwater Gear Exchahfe!.

Same pitch/tone as the Custom Dark 20" ride, but with CLARITY!

This ride cymbal is excellent! It is extremely versatile, and it pairs excellently with the rest of the K Custom Dark cymbal pack (14" hats, 16"&18" crashes, 20" ride), but it vastly outperforms the 20" custom dark ride when it comes to recording/performing situations. The 20" custom dark never "cuts" properly, unless you individually mic & mix it. But this cymbal, the 21" K sweet, cuts PERFECTLY without any accent mic-ing or adjusting of the overall mic setup. Perfect for a wide variety of live shows and recording, especially electric guitar-based music.
Basically, anytime you want your sticking to actually be heard, this is the perfect cymbal. It has a dark, lush character and plays very well for faster music. (sometimes, nicer cymbals don't respond to being hit rapidly; for example, a 22" Constantinople ride wants a decent amount of "air" and "space" to decay between hits, whereas an A or K wants to be hit LOTS of times in a row. Rock out with it. Don't let up. The nice thing about this cymbal is that it feels responsive & light, but you'll never even come close to breaking it.
Perfect for heavy music because it cuts through no matter what, but since its a K, it has a very tasteful "pre-mixed" sound, so its not overly "pingy" or bright (A's & 2002's tend to be a soundmans nightmare on stage).
I love pairing this with my 14" Custom Dark hats. The hats are bit "washy", and the ride has just the right amount of "pingy-ness". Perfect combo. Insanely easy to mix on and off stage.

RULE OF THUMB: with the K Custom Dark and K Sweet line, there is a LOT of tonal overlap with different sizes being the same pitch.
I have found the 20" K Custom Dark ride is literally the same exact pitch/note as the 21" K Sweet ride, but with less stick definition and a totally different bell.
The 16" & 18" K Custom Dark Crashes are the same pitches/notes as the 17" & 19" K Sweet Crashes, but the sweets have more sheen and a slightly longer decay.
The 14" Custom Dark Hi Hats are slightly lower pitch than the 15" K sweet Hi Hats, and have fewer overtones & again, less sheen.
Across the board, the K Sweets have more rebound, sustain, and overtones. The most notable difference is stick definition. Ride cymbals always need a little bit more stick definition than the rest of the kit, because it is often times the only cymbal being struck with the very tip end of the stick. I wish Zildjian included the 21" K Sweet ride in the Custom Dark Pack instead of the 20" custom dark ride. Its a fun cymbal, but I have no use for it now that I have the 21" K Sweet, which is literally the same note, but with less clarity. hmph. >:(

Musical versatility

Ive been playing a 20" med constantinople for years and wanted something similar and different. This cymbal fit that bill perfectly. It has that wonderful k tone, while the bell sounds like an A. Good stick definition and crashes great. Its worth its price. And the people at sweetwater are great

Fantastic ride cymbal with a fitting name.

This is exactly the sound I was looking for. Articulate, crisp, extremely dynamic. From light tap to full on crash it sings. In fact it could easily be used as a larger dark crash alone. The general sound is similar to my 20" A crash/ride, but this cymbal has more wash and overtones. It is slightly thinner also so it is darker tonally, which I really like. The bell tone stands out perfectly when you need it too. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. This really is a sweet ride.

21" Zildjian Ride

Sound is awesome. A great addition to my set. I would recommend it

Ask any drummer at Sweetwater, and chances are, we'll tell you that Zildjian represents the gold - or rather bronze - standard in cymbal making. Seriously, Avedis Zildjian may have been trying to make gold, but he did even better when he formulated what's arguably the best cymbal material on the planet. We've played virtually every type of Zildjian cymbal out there, and you won't find anyone at Sweetwater who wouldn't happily recommend their instruments to you, plus their sticks and other accessories are also pretty sweet. Whether you're grabbing your first S or ZBT pack or have saved up for the A or K series cymbals you've always wanted, Sweetwater is your source for all things Zildjian.
