Thin multi-ply maple shells are strong and soulful
Thin shells offer the highest energy transfer from head to drum. Unfortunately, thin shells also tend to be structurally weak, which can lead to warping or worse. TAMA’s answer is the Starclassic Maple shells’ thin cross-lamination structure, which, even with 6 and 8 plies, still only results in shells that are 5mm and 7mm thick, respectively. This produces a sensitive response and shells that are even stronger than thicker shells from other manufacturers. Visually arresting exterior finishes add curb appeal to the maple’s warmth, cut, and resonance.
Evans heads promise great tone right out of the gate
