Superb sound, great looking kit!

This kit sounds and looks amazing! The finish is flawlessI On stage with lighting it is very impressive. I am in no way dissappointed and highly recommend the Superstar Classic line. I bought this kit about 6 months ago so I have had time to really check it out. In recording sessions or at a live gig, it works exceptionally well. With this kit I play jazz fusion, R&B and pop. This kit shines in those applications. The only music setting that I do not use this kit for is my bebop straight ahead jazz gigs. I definitely recommend changing the stock heads with some professional heads. That made a world of difference in the attack, punch, and depth of tone. Botton line, this kit is a great value and performs well about its price point.

Tama maple drum kit

I'm incredibly happy with this kit. It was delivered within two days in perfect condition. The drum finish is great and they sound amazing!!! I would recommend Tama to anyone in the market for a new kit.

My Current Soulmate

I got my Superstar Classic last year and I love it. The finish is beautiful and they sound great. They're also very well-built and durable. This is the most bang for your buck that you'll find at this price point. I do sometimes struggle with keeping the toms tuned and I have yet to be completely satisfied with the 16" floor tom or 12" tom, but to be honest, I've never played a 16" floor tom that I loved, and there's always one tom on every kit I've ever owned that I don't 100% love. I'm also still using the stock reso heads. Put good heads on this kit and tune it properly and it's ready for professional recording. The snare sounds great and is very versatile. The kick was pure perfection from the start...I threw an Evans EMAD2 and EQ patch on it, tossed a KickPro bass drum pillow inside and tuned it to around 60 Hz and it immediately gave me the punch I desired for rock and metal (I suggest miking it with a Sennheiser e602). All told, it's an amazing kit for a great price. I currently have a coated Remo Controlled Sound Power Dot on the snare, Evans EMAD2 on the kick, and Remo clear Pinstripes on the toms, along with drum dots on every drum. Highly recommend!

Great Sound, Great Price, Great Look!!

Received my new Superstar Classic 7 piece kit last week. LOVE IT !!! The finish as mentioned in other reviews is absolutely flawless and really 'pops'. With the right lighting it looks like a million bucks (especially since its all mounted on the Gibraltar GCS-450C rack system). I've Swapped out the delivered heads for Remo Emperor Colortone for all toms, P3 Colortone for the kick reso and PS Pro for badder, PS P77 for snare top and Ambassador clear for snare side. Couldn't have asked for anything better, and the price was right. Talk about big bang for the buck. Tama has nailed it. I would highly recommend the SuperStar Classic line for anyone serious about drums from pros and beginners. You can't go wrong with this kit. No problem being heard with this kit either. It cuts through everything. With a variety of heads and tweaking the tuning, I will be using the kit for wide range of music.....prog rock, standard rock, pop, fusion, worship/contemporary Christian, and anything else that happens go come along where I need a great kit with great tone. Dave Brow, my Sales Engineer, has been my lifeline for many years in choosing equipment wisely and within budget. Thank you Dave for all the support and great equipment over the years. Dave and Sweetwater TOTALLY ROCK !!
